Opening message from Eddy Moors, Rector, IHE Delft

26.05.20

It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you, on behalf of IHE Delft and our symposium partners, to From Capacity Development to Implementation Science, our 6th International Symposium on Knowledge and Capacity for the Water Sector.

Prompted by the new and uncertain times of the Covid-19 pandemic, moving our symposium online has been quite a challenge. Our key goals have always been to create the network, space and environment to create a Water Capacity Agenda for the future, and our approach to moving online has been experimental. We’ve combined a networking platform with live events to trigger and develop conversations, highlight key issues and examples, and bring together a wide range of stakeholders to help in crafting a shared and actionable programme of work. Please do share your news and views from the symposium using #CapDevSymp and @CapDevSymp.

We hope you have a fruitful experience with your peers and colleagues across the world, across sectors and across disciplines. We look forward to hearing your thoughts, and to building the future of water.

As an academic I was always interested in impact. Today I have experience across the whole research cycle - producing, disseminating and evaluating it. I'm fascinated by how knowledge does (and doesn't) move across boundaries - be they disciplinary, cultural or sectoral.
