Excellent message and illustrations of working with people and community or citizen science by Jim Taylor, and done so well in such a short time deserves congratulations for this good job. I cannot agree more on the wrong approach to development projects seeing and labeling people as “target group”.  As a small development banker once said in my home country, the Dominican Republic, we identify and talk of people in projects we formulate as “beneficiaries”, but it is not so sure if we are benefiting them, and sometimes the consultants drafting projects and contractors supplying goods and services are the real beneficiaries, because they are the ones really making big money out of the projects, and sometimes living conditions of the people do not change enough to justify investments.
